Why We Are Consulting
The purpose of this consultation is to gather views from stakeholders on the new and revised proposals for biological and environmental standards.  UKTAG proposed standards for the first river basin plans which were adopted by the UK government and devolved authorities in 2007 and 2008.  A further set of new and updated standards were proposed for the second cycle of river basin plans in 2012 .  We are now consulting on new and revised proposals for standards to support the third cycle of river basin plans.  Everyone is welcome to reply to this consultation including industry, businesses, environmental organisations, scientists, local and central government, non-governmental organisations and members of the public.

See the Additional Documents section of this page for the consultation document, annexes, relevant background reports and response form.

Future Consultation
We also wish to make you aware that a second tranche of proposals for new and revised standards are being developed which we expect to consult on in early autumn 2019.  Further details will be provided on this second tranche of proposals in the coming weeks.
