Pressures and Impact Analysis
Provided below are the guidances documenting the approaches to: a) pressures and impacts analysis; and b) the assignment of water bodies to risk categories.
The risk categories are explained within Guidance WP7a: General Principles for Risk Assessment which proposes three risk categories: 'Water bodies at significant risk', 'Water bodies probably not at significant risk' and 'Water bodies not at significant risk on the basis of available information'
Specific guidance on identifying impacts or pressures on water bodies are:
Guidance WP7b: Abstraction & flow regulation pressures.
Guidance WP7c (01) & (02): Morphological pressures & alterations.
Guidance 7d: Point source discharges (not yet available).
Guidance 7f: risk assessment approaches to be used for (01) lakes(not yet available as thresholds being updated); (02) rivers; and (03) coastal and transitional waters.
Guidance 7h: Abstraction & recharge pressures on Groundwater.
Guidance 7i: Pollution pressures on groundwater.
Guidance 7g: Assessment of alien species.
These methods will be tested and developed during 2004 and future characterisation processes.
