1. Classification Schemes and Environmental standards

Under Article 11 and Annex VI of the Directive, a programme of measures may include the adoption of controls. These must be linked to the environmental objectives set pursuant to Article 4 for water bodies. In addition, under the Directive there are requirements for establishing Environmental Quality Standards (EQSs).

The guidance and documents below provides details on how environmental standards and classification schemes will support the design and implementation of Programmes of Measures.
