This report provides estimates of ambient background concentrations (ABCs) for several metals and one metalloid in UK freshwaters.
The environmental standards for river flows were developed from work undertaken by SNIFFER profect WFD48 . The environmental standards were developed in order to assess the risk to ecological status posed by alterations in flows across the flow regime.
UKTAG requested Freshwater Task Team to develop acidification environmental standards based on new biological methods and additional evidence that has become available since the last round of standard setting in 2006.
This report on the classification of surface waters is one of a series of reports by UKTAG to the UK administrations setting out UKTAG's recommendations and proposals on how waters should be classified for the purposes of the Water Framework Directive.
A technical report on proposals for a first set of standards and conditions was published for review in 2006. The revised report was issued in August 2006 in the form of a recommendation to the UK governments. The UKTAG updated the report in November 2007.
This classification method encompasses fish abundance, taxonomic composition and age structure.
The aquatic environment is sensitive to damage from a wide range of chemicals.
This is a technical report that presents the first set of environmental standards and conditions proposed by the UKTAG to underpin the implementation of the Directive. Our report outlines the background to our proposals and describes the role they could play.
The paper sets out UKTAG’s guidance on the framework for the identification of, and assessments of ‘type-specific’ risk thresholds for deciding if a water body is likely to fail to achieve the ‘good status’ objectives in relation to existing biological classification schemes and monitoring data f
The paper sets out UKTAG’s guidance on the framework for the identification of, and assessments of risks from, abstraction and flow regulation pressures on river, lake, transitional and coastal water bodies as required by Article 5 of the Directive.
