What about standards for Groundwater?

Standards for groundwater include quantitative (water flow, amount, etc.) and water quality standards. Achieving Good Quantitative Status for groundwater involves meeting a series of conditions, which are defined in Annex V of the Directive. They apply to the whole groundwater body, which involves the balance of abstraction and recharge. They also apply on a local scale, for example in considering the condition of dependent ecosystems, or looking at whether abstraction has caused saline intrusion. Standards for groundwater quality will support setting Groundwater Chemical Status.
