UK Environmental Standards

ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS

UKTAG has produced the following reports after developing a range of environmental standards and conditions to underpin the implementation of the Water Framework Directive.

UKTAG (Revised April 2008) UK environmental standards and conditions (phase 1) (amended post Stakeholder Review) and supporting reports & technical papers presenting standards and conditions for:

  • water quality for rivers, lakes and transitional and coastal waters;
  • water flow for rivers;
  • water levels for rivers and lakes; and
  • a systems for assessing the physical structure and condition of the beds and banks of rivers (i.e. morphology).

     

    Final UKTAG Phase 2 Report on Surface Water (amended post stakeholder review), and supporting technical reports presenting standards and conditions for:

  • nitrogen in estuaries and coastal waters;

  • phosphorus in lakes;
  • temperature standards for lakes, rivers, estuaries and coastal waters;
  • suspended solids management approach;
  • standards and conditions for managed flows;
  • standards and conditions for freshwater flow to estuaries;
  • a system for assessing the structure and condition of the bottom and banks of lakes;
  • a system for assessing the structure and condition of the beds/bottom and banks of transitional and coastal waterbodies.

    Final UKTAG Report  on Specific Pollutants (amended post Stakeholder Review) and technical reports presenting standards for:

  • Environmental Quality Standards (EQSs) for specific pollutants (i.e. synthetic and non-synthetic pollutants);

    Final UKTAG Report on Groundwater Classification (amended post stakeholder review), and technical reports presenting:

    • groundwater quality and quantity.
